Behind the Art…

Who is LucyBerrystudioArt?

Welcome to my Website! My names is Lucy Grant-Berry and I am an Artist based in Basingstoke, Hampshire, UK. I specialise in both drawings and paintings of people, pets and special occassions such as weddings. I first started this business back in 2020 after finishing college. Since then I have built up both my knowledge and skills in multiple mediums, along with learning how to run a business.I love being busy and having a project on the go! I would say that one of my main sources of inspiration is getting to see the look on a clients face when I have helped capture an important memory of theirs in the form of Art.

My Background?

For as long as I can remember I have either always been drawing or painting from a young age, building up hundreds, if not thousands of drawings and paintings that my Mum has been kind enough to save (even the not very good ones). Art was always my favourite subject in school, the one I looked most forward too and the one I took the most seriously. This passion and drive for becoming the best artist I could, led me studying both Fine Art and photography in both Secondary school and college. I found that Art and photography worked hand in hand with one another and my passion for photography also grew over the years. This led me to receiving the highest grade possible in both subjects at college and inspiring me to start my own Art business at the age of 18.

When it comes to my passion for Art, I do not like to restrict myself creatively. Therefore, over the years I have built up my skills and knowledge in both different drawing and paint mediums. I enjoy both creating drawings and paintings for people to hang in their home. This can be a drawing or painting of either a loved one, pet or even from a special occasion such as a wedding.

I am mostly well known for my Prismacolour pencil drawings, where I capture every fine detail of a person or pet. However, I also enjoy using graphite pencils to capture a timeless piece of Art. All drawings are sealed and protected with a high quality fixative spray to prevent sun damage.

When it comes to my paintings, I prefer to use a high quality, slow drying oil paint. This allows for me to relax into my painting, taking my time to perfect the tones and blending of colours. Once complete, my paintings are varnished with either a Matt or High Gloss Varnish to help protect the piece from sun damage. The parish also helps the colours in the painting to pop!
